The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual to join our Mobile Maintenance Department as a Supervisor – Underground Electrical.

About the role

Reporting to the Forman - Underground Maintenance, the Supervisor - Underground Electrical will oversee the electrical maintenance and installation activities within New Porgera Limited’s (NPL) underground operations. This role ensures that all electrical systems and equipment are maintained, repaired, and installed to the highest standards, supporting safe and efficient mining operations. The Supervisor will lead a team of electricians, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and operational objectives while providing technical expertise and leadership.

In this role, you will:

• Supervise and lead a team of electricians and trade assistants providing guidance, support and technical expertise.
• Carry out maintenance, fault finding, and repair of underground electrical infrastructure and associated mining assets
• Install, inspect and verify electrical installations in accordance with electrical codes and New Porgera Limited requirements
• Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns, diagnose faults, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Plan, coordinate and execute maintenance activities using efficient servicing strategies to achieve service time targets and schedule compliance
• Accurately document maintenance work, including tasks completed, materials used, and identified issues
• Collaborate with the maintenance and operations teams to ensure electrical systems meet operational demands.
• Assist in maintaining an inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for electrical maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to strict health and safety standards while working in challenging underground environments.
• Uphold high standards of health and safety awareness, ensuring compliance with NPL’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all safety procedures.

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:

• A Trade Certificate in Electrical.
• Manual driving license
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical maintenance in the Mining, Oil and Gas or Heavy industry environment, including demonstrated experience in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of underground electrical systems, including high-voltage and low-voltage equipment.
• Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex electrical systems.
• Sound knowledge and demonstrated understanding of AS/NZS electrical standards
• Solid understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, particularly in underground mining.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Proficient in using maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Mobilization Requirement

This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
