About Lihir
Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course. Purpose
Efficiently manage dispatch operations by implementing and monitoring systems, providing
performance metrics, supporting staff training, ensuring compliance, and resolving issues to maintain
smooth resource flow and operational accuracy
Essential Duties
- Administer efficient dispatch of resources for operational needs
- Monitor and supervise dispatch activities to meet operational demands
- Provide on dispatch performance and metrics to the guide
- Support dispatch staff in operational procedures and safety standards
- Execute improvements in dispatch systems for enhanced efficiency
- Supervise the maintenance of dispatch equipment and systems
- Adhere to compliance with dispatch regulations and protocols
- Liaise with logistics teams to ensure smooth flow of resources
- Execute audits of dispatch processes to ensure accuracy
- Solve any issues related to dispatch operations or resource delays
- Explain the purpose of the work of your team and how it adds value to the business.
- Encourage your team members to identify critical issues which will affect the work.
- Listen when issues are raised.
- Allocate work to your team members from the plan set by the manager.
- Review how team members are performing with their work.
- Recognise team members for work done well.
- Actively contributes to establishing and maintaining a positive and productive team working environment
Training & Experience
- Relevant academic qualification or trade qualification
- Practical knowledge gained from working in relevant mining role - applied knowledge of technical aspects of the role including processes, equipment and systems.
- Practical and applied knowledge of working safely and sustainably in this area of mining
- Proven ability to identify risk and taking active steps to mitigate risk
- Acquired knowledge of business and process improvement-identifying improvement opportunity and taking
appropriate action - For supervisor roles, applied knowledge of managing, leading and supervising mining teams
- Competent in operational processes and systems required of the role
- Competent in safety, health, and sustainability processes and procedures
- Foundational understanding of the processes of parallel areas of work - for example planning, drill and blast, maintenance, processing.
- Competent to deliver specific activities identified in the role, and using relevant equipment
- Competent in risk management and mitigation
- For supervisor roles, competent in all aspects of teams management and operational performance monitoring, and in managing conflict between stakeholders
Working Conditions
Must be open to a FIFO position.
Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
