About Lihir
Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Purpose
The Supervisor, Front-End Shutdowns will manage front-end shutdown activities to ensure efficient planning and execution.
Essential Duties
- Coordinate and execute equipment shutdown processes
- Follow compliance with safety protocols during shutdown activities
- Prepare and schedule execution schedules and tasks, including identification of guide resources and onboarding planning tasks
- Assist execution teams as guide for delivery of shuts during execution phases
- Assess progress of shutdown tasks and supervise contractors involved in shutdown activities
- Assess shutdown performance vs. plan and provide improvements
- Plan and deliver front-end shutdown tasks
- Prepare new employees on shutdown procedures
- Execute regular inspections of front-end equipment
- Responsible for assessing relevant risks, applying mitigation measures, and continuously monitoring for risks
- Responsible for managing cost control of all shutdown related Purchase Orders and budgets for your relevant area of responsibility
- Identify and enter Cancelled/Late/Emergent Work forms to ensure only critical tasks are included/excluded when required
Training & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or relevant trade qualification. Several years of experience in engineering process safety management, mechanical systems monitoring, and preventive maintenance, and safety audits in a large scale fixed plant environment.
- Competent ability to interact, influence and resolve conflict with various stakeholders.
- Competent experience in leading and developing teams. Competent experience in complex work Management execution.
- Advanced understanding of engineering process safety management, mechanical systems monitoring, and preventive maintenance, and stakeholder collaboration.
- Advanced knowledge and practical proficiency in engineering standards, engineering process safety management systems, risk mitigation, data recording and reporting.
- Competent knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for performance. Competent knowledge of health, safety, environment and sustainability regulations and practices.
- Competent understand of project cost management and financial principles.
Working Conditions
This is a FIFO role on a 21:21 roster.
