As the Supervisor – Transport & Logistics, you will play a critical role in keeping Newmont’s Lihir operation moving safely, efficiently, and reliably. Leading a diverse team of transport professionals, you will oversee the movement of people, materials, and equipment across site operations, ensuring transportation services are delivered to the highest standards of safety, performance, and operational excellence. Your leadership will directly influence productivity, fleet efficiency, and the safe execution of logistics activities across the business.

As part of our team, you will

• Lead and supervise a transport and logistics workforce, including drivers and mobile equipment operators.
• Coordinate daily transportation schedules for personnel, materials, and equipment to support operational requirements.
• Monitor fleet availability, vehicle utilisation, and fuel consumption to maximise operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, load restraint requirements, and chain of responsibility obligations across all transport activities.
• Supervise loading and unloading activities to protect people, equipment, and materials.
• Manage transport records, databases, manifests, and operational documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Support the resolution of transport disruptions, equipment breakdowns, and logistics challenges while maintaining service continuity.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance transport efficiency, productivity, and service delivery.

Prerequisites for your success in this role

To thrive, you will bring:

• Proven experience in transport and logistics operations, ideally with 5+ years in a similar environment.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in operational or industrial settings.
• Strong understanding of transport regulations, load restraint practices, and chain of responsibility requirements.
• A genuine commitment to safety leadership and safe work practices.
• Strong planning, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Sound computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and the ability to work within business systems and transport management processes.
• Experience working within large, complex organisations, preferably in mining, heavy industry, logistics, or related sectors.

Your work environment

Located in Lihir, Papua New Guinea, you will join Newmont's Supply Chain team and report to the Superintendent – Ports, Warehouse & Logistics. You will lead a team responsible for transportation services across a dynamic and fast-paced mining operation, working closely with operational stakeholders to deliver safe and efficient logistics outcomes. Working Conditions

This role is offered on a 21:21 Fly in, Fly out (FIFO) roster to Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea

Our FIFO employees stay in a secure and comfortable camp, in an en-suited and airconditioned room equipped with mini fridge, TV and Wi-Fi. A variety of healthy meal options are catered for at our mess; and the wet mess provides a relaxed social setting where employees can unwind with a game of pool or darts.
