Supply Chain & Procurement Officer

CARE International in PNG is looking into recruiting a suitable candidate for a Supply Chain & Procurement Officer role based in Goroka, EHP. CARE is an international development and humanitarian aid organisation fighting global poverty, with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring lasting change to their communities. CARE International in Papua New Guinea has a focus on Gender Equality, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Agriculture and Health.

The Supply Chain & Procurement Officer is responsible to ensure that the CARE Procurement functions are efficient and adhered to. This position will also provide procurement support to other field offices. To maintain updated inventory and asset listings in compliance with CARE’s policy and guidelines and is responsible for receiving goods; storage and stock movement (i.e. delivery of goods) and other functions are carried out in compliance with COLAM & COFM procedures.

The Supply Chain & Procurement Officer ensures program objectives are met by providing safe, compliant, efficient and effective procurement support. In addition, Supply Chain & Procurement officer will build and maintain professional relationships with suppliers and service providers that CARE engages with.

The Supply Chain & Procurement officer is expected to facilitate efficiency and effectiveness in a team and resources towards achieving project objectives in a timely, compliant manner.

This role is based in Goroka, but will require travel to CARE PNG’s field offices and project sites as and when required.This Position has no contact with Children or vulnerable adults.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree and/ Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field and/or minimum 3 years relevant work experience in logistics and administration activities, preferably with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO) and/or private company;
• Proven experience in logistics including supply chain management and inventory control;
• Demonstrated experience in following standard policies, procedures and processes and ensure the implementation of basic standard transactions;
• A willingness to learn about CARE, gender equality and women’s empowerment activities;
• Proven ability to manage and acquit a cash advance;
• Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, sound judgment, planning, problem solving and team building skills;
• Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work under pressure and to organise and manage workload to meet deadlines;
• Demonstrated characteristics in honesty, reliability, trustworthiness with the ability to maintain confidentiality;
• Demonstrated ability to contributes to group objectives and work effectively in a group setting;
• Fluent communication skills in Pidgin and intermediate oral and written English; and
• Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Word and numeric skills with advanced Excel.
