About the Role
PNGUNRE invites applications from suitably qualified and motivated candidates for appointment as Tutor (Technical Instructor) – Agriculture Marketing and Supply Chain within the Department of Agriculture, School of Natural Resources.
This position supports undergraduate teaching through tutorials, practical classes, applied learning activities, and academic support in agriculture marketing, agribusiness, and supply chain systems. The role contributes to undergraduate instruction, applied research support, extension and industry engagement activities, and academic administration aligned with PNGUNRE’s mandate in sustainable agriculture and market-oriented development.
The successful appointee will work under the direction of an assigned Lecturer and Strand Leader and report to the Head of Department, Agriculture.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Lecturers in the preparation and delivery of tutorials and practical sessions in Agriculture Marketing and Supply Chain.
- Support undergraduate teaching, learning activities, and applied field-based instruction.
- Provide academic support, mentoring, and supervision assistance to undergraduate students, including guidance on assignments and projects.
- Assist with assessment preparation, marking, moderation, and submission of student results in accordance with university procedures.
- Participate in applied research activities and assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Support preparation of research proposals and departmental research initiatives, as required.
- Contribute to extension, outreach, and industry engagement activities related to agricultural marketing and value chains.
- Assist in the development and review of teaching and learning materials, including blended and digital delivery resources.
- Participate in Sectional, Departmental, and University committees and activities, as required.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual academic and research reports.
- Ensure compliance with university academic, research, quality assurance, and administrative policies and procedures.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably directed by the Lecturer, Strand Leader, or Head of Department.
Qualifications, Experience & Competency Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agribusiness, Agriculture Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.
- A master’s degree in a relevant field is desirable but not mandatory.
- A minimum of one (1)–two (2) years teaching, tutoring, field extension, or relevant industry or professional experience.
- Demonstrated capacity to support quality undergraduate course delivery and applied teaching in agriculture marketing and supply chain systems.
- Demonstrated ability or potential to assist in supervising undergraduate students.
- Basic research exposure or demonstrated interest in applied and industry-focused research.
- Experience or willingness to support blended and flexible learning approaches using digital technologies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and culturally diverse environments.
- Commitment to equity, cultural diversity, and workplace health and safety principles.
- High standards of professionalism, ethical conduct, and integrity.
Salary Range

K36,288.00 – K55,632.00
(plus applicable allowances and benefits)
