Technical Records Officer/Librarian

We are pleased to announce an open vacancy now exists in our Continuous Airworthy Management Group (CAMG) Department for a qualified and experienced Technical Records Officer/Librarian.

Based in Port Moresby this position will report to General Manager - CAMG. The overall purpose of a Technical Records Officer/Librarian is responsible for the effective day to day maintenance of technical records and carrying out general administrative support duties among others as deemed necessary to support the continuing airworthiness management group operational needs of the PNG Air operation.

The Technical Records Officer/Librarian will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for your allocated aircraft records, as set by the Manager Technical Records and Planning.
  • Primary processors of Records, carrying out post maintenance checks of work packs and all other documentation, for completeness and outstanding matters.
  • Checking completed FRTR’s and Maintenance Logs for accuracy and completeness and advising deficiencies to the Technical Records Supervisor
  • Lodging records in logbooks
  • Making entries in hardcopy logbook
  • Enter airworthiness data into the computer maintenance systems in a timely manner (so as to provide updated status reports such as deferral reports in a timely manner)
  • Using the computer maintenance tracking system database for records updating
  • Preparing and distributing of Aircraft Deferral reports once all completed maintenance data have been accredited for in the maintenance tracking software.
  • Collecting Tech Log documents from aircraft, hangar, and flight dispatch (Terminals 1,2,3,4 at Port Moresby)
  • Following up missing flight documents not returned by Flight Operations crews.
  • Inputting engine trend data and pass to PNGA Technical Services Group
  • Placing Tech Log “next documents” in the cupboards located outside the CAMG Office.
  • When requested by Flight Operations, dispatching Tech Log “next documents” to the named outport through the Cargo Department.
  • Maintaining adequate housekeeping measures of work areas
  • Advising the Technical Records Supervisor of maintenance software outages.
  • Assisting with compilation of CAMG documentation
  • Providing copies of aircraft certification documents (C of R, C of A, AOC, etc.) as required, for certification as a True Copy by an approved signatory)
  • Carrying out general administrative support duties as required by the Manager CAMG or Manager Technical Records and Planning
  • Ensure all changed life limited components have been updated in the maintenance tracking software correctly and expediently and notify the planners immediately should there be any discrepancies.
  • Ensure all tasks requested to be deferred by the MRO has available time left to be deferred and notify the planner of such deferrals.
  • Potential for weekend rostered work
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required

To be considered, you must have the relevant qualifications with previous experience in a similar role including having the following key attributes:

  • Possess Diploma or minimum Gr 12 Education
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience in records and aviation industry
  • Technical Records experience for logbooks for 2 years minimum
  • Have high level of computer literacy especially in MS Excel would be beneficial. Diploma or Certificate level minimum
  • Must have knowledgeable experience in logbook data to review technical information
  • Must be physically fit & heathy
  • Must have good customer skills
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Have strong attention to detail ability
