Technical Specialist – Crushing Circuit

Our Simberi Operations consists of an open cut mine on the northernmost island in the Tabar group of islands in the province of New Ireland in Papua New Guinea. We are currently seeking a Technical Specialist – Crushing Circuit to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Buka, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Process Operations Superintendent, the primary purpose of this role is to provide performance feedback, technical and project support for the Crushing Circuit to safely achieve high mill production and plant utilisation that is essential for optimum processing operations within the Simberi Operations, in a manner consistent with the company’s Vision and Values.

The opportunity

Technical Accountabilities

  • Ensuring own health and safety as well as that of all personnel associated with the crushing and conveying function within the Processing Department.
  • Ensure and maintain safe work standards and practices in accordance with Simberi HSE safety standards and Mine Safety Regulations for all tasks performed.
  • Support the crushing function to deliver to plan in respect of safety observations, crushing,

conveying, sampling, projects, circuit analyses and improvement, cost per tonne.

  • Support the Superintendent in development of procedures and processes to ensure safe and

consistent operational performance.

  • Provide onsite support for the project team with technical feedback and execution of projects

including process optimization and controls upgrades.

  • Supporting the timely, accurate reporting as required by the Superintendent.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement processes.

Scheduling accountabilities

  • Support the development and execution of effective and sustainable plans that derive from annual

planning and support Mining and the Processing department.

  • Managing effective use of available resources, including own time.

People accountabilities

  • Assist with the training and coaching of personnel in the Processing Department especially in the crushing circuit.

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
  • 15+ Years experience in mineral processing with solid understanding of crushing plants.
  • Strong communication skills, including communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasks.
  • High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, developing, and empowering others.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role
