Our Lihir operation in Fixed Plant Maintenance Department is now recruiting for the position of Technician - Mechanical based at our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO).

Reporting to the Supervisor – Mechanical (Back End Maintenance), you are required to perform various task on mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance checks on pumps, valves & pipe maintenance & attending to break down task common to a process plant operation and associated to Refining and Autoclaves within the Fixed plant Maintenance Back End areas.

The role will have responsibility to:

• Ensures personal and team compliance with all company HSE requirements & policies including Fitness for Work.
• Works Constructively within a diverse group of people.
• Performs machining and maintenance in the field or workshop on fixed plant equipment, structures, and components of the processing facility, and writes reports detailing work performed and problems found.
• Effectively communicates day-to-day maintenance issues with the supervisor and with other sections and work groups by providing updates of relevant issues and seeking information or input as required to define maintenance priorities and develop effective working relationships.
• Escalates any issues, delays or roadblocks impacting ability to execute tasks.
• Performs preventative maintenance inspections on plant equipment as directed.
• Ensures workshop facilities and equipment within area of responsibility are kept in good working order.

Essential Criteria

Ideally, our preferred applicant will have;

• Minimum level of Grade 10 education essential.
• 5-10 years relevant work experience desirable in heavy industry preferably within a mining environment.
• Mechanical Trade qualification or certification essential.
• Sound knowledge of pumps, valves & pipe fitting experience
• Highly requires set of skills of a Maintenance Fitting and Machining tradesman.
• Confined space, working at heights tickets.
• PNG National Driver’s License – class 6.
• Autoclave experience advantageous.
• Computer proficiency in SAP & MS Office suite desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in performing maintenance on heavy fixed plant equipment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
• High attention to detail with good time management skills.
• Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building.

The Requirements

• Must be available for FIFO to Lihir
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
• Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
