Our Lihir operation in Mobile Fleet Maintenance Department is now recruiting for the position of Technician – Fabrication for FIFO role based at our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO).

Reporting to the Supervisor Fabrication, this role will act as the mechanical maintenance team lead to monitor and oversee the day-to-day activities of Mobile Fleet Maintenance – Fabrication team.

The role will have responsibility to:

  • Ensure personal and team compliance with all company HSE requirements including Fitness for Work.
  • Complete any HSE tasks only if the hazards and any potential consequences are understood and any corrections are firstly agreed by the relevant Supervisor.
  • Work constructively within a diverse group of people.
  • Deliver consistently on commitments and takes accountability for own development.
  • Read and interpret PM documents to prepare and apply industrial coatings for the protection of mechanical/structural and piping components.
  • Ensure components are fit for purpose and safe for intended use.
  • Operate safely and maintain hand and power tools to ensure fit for purpose.
  • Actively seek cost reduction opportunities and identifies & reports any cost wastage within designated area.

Essential Criteria

Ideally, our preferred applicant will possess the below:

  • Minimum level of Grade 10 education essential.
  • Mechanical/fabrication/welding trade or similar qualification or certification essential.
  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience working within the pressure piping code requirements essential.
  • Ability to satisfy the pressure piping codes for welding Stainless steel, Aluminium, Carbon steel & Titanium essential.
  • PNG class 6 drivers Licence essential.
  • Experience working within oxygen plant environment is desirable.
  • Ability to satisfy the pressure piping code for welding Monel & CuNi desirable.

The Requirement

  • Must be open FIFO to Lihir site
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
