Town Planner

Atlas

Town Planner
The approvals, no-delays kind
Location: Atlas, Port Moresby
Employment: Full-time, Local Hire
Important: If you do not have proven town planning, development approvals, building permit, or statutory approval experience in PNG, please do not submit your CV.
Atlas is part of the Kenmore Group of Companies and supports projects across housing, building, steel, modular, and civil works.
We’re looking for an experienced Town Planner to manage the planning approvals, building permits, development applications, and statutory requirements needed to keep projects moving.
This is not a role for someone who only knows the theory. We need someone who understands the NCDC Physical Planning Board, Building Board, lands processes, approval timelines, documentation, and how to follow up properly until approvals are secured.
If your experience is limited, this is not the one to test it on.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be responsible for preparing, lodging, tracking, and managing development applications, planning permissions, building permits, and related approvals with NCDC and other relevant authorities.
That includes coordinating survey plans, drawings, engineering reports, landowner consents, building board submissions, inspections, certifications, and occupancy approvals.
You’ll also maintain an approvals register, track permit conditions and expiry dates, respond to requests for further information, and make sure approval issues do not delay projects.
You’ll work closely with project managers, estimators, construction teams, design and drafting staff, surveyors, consultants, lands officers, landowners, and statutory bodies.
The expectation is simple: manage the approvals properly, follow up professionally, and keep projects moving.
Who This Suits
This role suits an experienced Town Planner or development approvals professional with real PNG planning experience.
You understand zoning, land use, planning requirements, building approvals, permit conditions, statutory processes, and the risks that can delay a project if approvals are not handled properly.
You should have experience preparing and lodging applications under PNG planning and building requirements, especially within the National Capital District.
You are organised, persistent, detailed, and confident dealing with authorities, consultants, landowners, and internal project teams.
You know how to manage multiple applications at the same time without losing track of deadlines, conditions, documents, or follow-ups.
If people already rely on you to get approvals moving, this will feel familiar.
Why You’ll Like Working Here
Atlas is involved in real housing, building, modular, steel, and civil works projects.
You’ll be part of a business where approvals matter, project timelines matter, and good planning work directly supports delivery on the ground.
This is a role where persistence, accuracy, and strong follow-up are valued.
How to Apply
If you’re reading this and thinking, “I can manage this properly,” then we want to hear from you.
