About the role

In this role you will assist the Technician - Refrigeration to install, maintain and repair, cooling and refrigeration systems on site.

Key / Major Accountabilities

Key accountabilities of this position include.

• Assist to service and maintain ventilation equipment and controls making sure they operate efficiently and continuously
• Assist to perform regular maintenance work on cooling systems.
• Assist to diagnose electrical and mechanical defects and malfunctions.
• Assist to Install, replace, or repair equipment that has been damaged.
• Assist to adjust and calibrate thermostatic controls.
• Assist to Install new air-conditioning systems and equipment.
• Assist to clean blowers and coils, checks tensions of belts and motors.
• Assist to make plans and designs of new air-conditioning systems including their installation and maintenance.
• Assist to Inspect and maintain refrigerators and ice machines and chilled water supply systems.

About You

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you must have a

• Minimum Grade 10 Certificate
• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Knowledge and understanding of HVAC Systems and Methods, including Safety Standards and Protocols.
• Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting Skills
• Basic knowledge and understanding of the principles of air-conditioning unit repair & maintenance, including controls, MSDS sheets, safety practices and procedures and tools used.
• Relevant work experience in this field.
• Able to work in places where they are exposed to dust, fumes, noise, toxic materials, and high voltage equipment.
• Able to work in confined and hot spaces like ceilings, tight place and the UG Mine.
• Willing to learn from experienced Tradespersons and Trainers, fill out Logbooks, attend classes, and eager to complete Trade Certificate training and exams to advance to a tradesperson, Technician – Refrigeration.
• Willing to learn to read and interpret building regulations and codes pertaining to installing air-conditioning units.
