We are a major construction company based in Lae, Morobe Province, delivering significant infrastructure and building projects throughout Papua New Guinea.

As an equal opportunity employer, we are seeking qualified and experienced individuals to join our team in the following Lae-based positions, all reporting directly to the Workshop Manager.

TRAILER MECHANIC

• Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, fabrication, and servicing of trailers, ensuring they remain safe, reliable, and maintained to the highest standards.

• Key Responsibilities

• Cut, grind, fit, and weld structural steel components such as frame rails, cross-members, and subframes using MIG, TIG, or ARC welding.
• Service and repair suspension systems, axles, hubs, and landing gear.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, lighting systems, air brakes, ABS, and hydraulic systems.
• Repair damaged trailer bodies, side panels, roofs, and wooden or metal flooring.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance and ensure equipment complies with road safety and regulatory requirements.
• Complete inspection and maintenance reports and advise management on major structural or mechanical issues.

• Requirements

• Minimum Grade 10 Certificate.
• Technical Certificate in Heavy Truck Technology or relevant trade qualification.
• Minimum three (3) years' hands-on experience in trailer repairs, metal fabrication, or heavy-duty mechanical work.
• Sound knowledge of trailer mechanical, electrical, braking, suspension, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to lift heavy materials, stoop, crawl, climb, and work safely in confined or awkward positions.
• Ability to safely operate mechanical, hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork.
