Trainer – Risk Redi
Quest Exploration Drilling (PNG) Ltd is a leading drilling services company with extensive experience supporting mining and exploration operations across Papua New Guinea. QED (PNG) Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Trainer – Risk Redi to join our Resource Redi team based in Lae. The Trainer will be responsible for delivering high-quality Risk Redi training, competency assessments, workplace coaching and mentoring across QED's operational sites, travelling from the Lae base when and where training support is required.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Risk Redi training through classroom, workshop and workplace-based learning environments.
- Travel to QED operational sites when required to conduct training and workplace-based learning.
- Facilitate Risk Redi Mining, Construction, Oil & Gas and related risk management programs.
- Conduct competency assessments, workplace observations and practical assessments.
- Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessment and emergency response exercises.
- Provide workplace coaching and mentoring to supervisors, frontline leaders and operational teams.
- Support the implementation of risk management and safety improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate training, assessment and competency records.
- Review and improve training resources and assessment materials.
- Ensure training activities meet applicable legislative, organizational and client requirements.
- Deliver face-to-face and virtual training as required.
Additional Requirements
- Current driver's licence.
- Based in Lae or willing to be based in Lae.
- Willingness and ability to travel to QED operational sites when and if required.
- Ability to work in remote, industrial and operational environments.
- Ability to meet site induction, medical fitness and other site-access requirements.
- Ability to work flexible schedules in line with operational and training requirements.
Skills & Experience required:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mining, construction, oil & gas, resources or heavy industry environments.
- Demonstrated experience conducting workplace risk assessments, inspections and audits.
- Experience developing and implementing safety management systems and critical risk controls.
- Experience facilitating emergency response exercises and incident investigations.
- Proven experience delivering adult education and workplace-based training programs.
- Experience working with frontline supervisors, operational teams and management personnel.
- Practical knowledge of Australian and PNG safety and risk management frameworks.
Preferred Industry Background
Candidates with substantial operational experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:
Surface Mining | Underground Mining | Mineral Exploration | Drilling Operations | Construction & Civil Infrastructure | Oil & Gas Operations | Manufacturing & Processing Facilities | Emergency Services | Mine Rescue.
Qualifications:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent).
- Diploma or advanced qualification in Work Health and Safety, Risk Management, Emergency Management, Leadership, Training, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated competency in one or more of:
- RIIRIS301E – Apply Risk Management Processes
- PMAOMIR650 – Manage a Crisis
- PUAMAN006 – Manage and Facilitate Change
- Emergency Management and Incident Response programs
- Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent).
Desirable:
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety.
- Emergency Response and Rescue qualifications.
- Incident Investigation qualification, such as ICAM.
- Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 45001, ISO 14001 or ISO 9001.
- Formal qualifications in Risk Management, Business Continuity or Crisis Management.
