Career Opportunities x1 Position

The Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) is the legal entity that manages community development benefits from Ok Tedi Mine operations on behalf of the people of the 158 Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) villages. OTDF is a safe, professional and innovative organisation that delivers projects to communities through a unique partnership between mining, the people and the government. OTDF is mandated to ensure wise and sustainable use of the wealth created from mining operations for the betterment of future generations of Western Province.

OTDF has one (1) current vacancy and seeks to engage dynamic, competent and qualified persons to be part of the team that is delivering development outcomes for the communities of Western Province. Trust Liaison and Project Officer

This role is responsible for facilitating all Trust meetings, as well as supporting Trust Project Officers to support the development for the people of the CMCA communities. Tasks and activities will include:

  • Effective co-ordination of CMCA Development Trust Board Meetings, including Trustee liaison and travel & accommodation needs
  • Prepare Board Agenda for endorsement by Team Leader prior to approval by Trust Administrator/Manager.
  • Attend all Trust Board Meetings and record accurately all Trust Board Decisions & send out action items for implementation by OTDF departments
  • Accurate recording of all Trust Board decisions and maintaining an electronic data base
  • Provide CMCA community project design and documentation assistance
  • Assist Project Officer monitor financial reporting on all funded projects
  • Collaboration with other OTDF Departments, program partners and stakeholders including Government
  • Effectively employ procurement and contract processes and, ensure compliance with relevant Policies
  • Promote and uphold the OTDF vision, and culture across the Trust Administration Department
  • Carryout review of new development initiatives prior to referral for M&E input and documentation by respective OTDF departments.
  • Provide advice and support to OTDF departments on all matters relating to trust functions, policies & guidelines in the use of development & investment funds.

The following skills, qualifications, work experiences and attributes preferred for this role are:

  • A university Degree or Diploma in Project Management or other related discipline.
  • 3-5 years working in a natural resource development project in the primary industry or mining sector dealing with landowners.
  • Demonstrated experience in sustainable development projects & extension work.
  • Demonstrated ability to network with a wide range of stakeholders including governmental and non-governmental organizations and aid donors.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in rural communities with minimum to no supervision.
  • Commitment to excellence in safety
  • The possession of a positive and professional attitude
  • Possession of a solid work ethic
  • Loyalty to team objectives
  • Have the ability to meet targets and deadlines
  • Track record of delivery of community development projects
  • Understanding of different cultures, communities & environment issues
  • Experience with monitoring operating costs
  • Must maintain good discipline and social behaviour
  • Must have strong determination & commitment to work
  • Must be a team player
