Monier Limited the single largest producer, supplier and distributor or construction materials and building products in PNG is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and highly motivated individual for the following position:

Tyre Fitter

The Tyre Fitter is responsible for the fitting, repair and maintenance of tyres across a diverse fleet, including light vehicles, heavy vehicles, trailers and heavy equipment such as Komatsu and CAT wheel loaders and haul trucks. This role requires a thorough understanding of tyre types, wheel alignment and balancing procedures, along with a strong commitment to safety.

Duties Include:

• Maintain safe working practices and a safe environment for all team members.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Fit and remove tyres on trucks, prime movers, concrete trucks, tipper trucks and buses using appropriate equipment.
• Fit, remove and service large OTR (Off-The-Road) tyres on wheel loaders, haul trucks and other earthmoving equipment.
• Perform tyre rotations in accordance with fleet requirements.
• Conduct tyre pressure inspections and inflate tyres to specified PSI ratings.
• Inspect tyres for uneven wear, damage and serviceability and advise on replacements as required.
• Repair punctures and minor tyre damages using approved patching and plugging methods.
• Perform bead seating procedures safely, adhering to industry standards for explosive risk mitigation.
• Inspect and replace valve stems, rim seals and associated hardware.
• Maintain accurate tyre tread depth records and rotation schedules.
• Monitor and manage tyre pressures in line with OEM specifications.
• Coordinate planned tyre change outs to minimise equipment downtime.
• Complete repair orders, tyre records and inspection reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Manage tyre inventory, stock levels and order requests for consumables and replacement tyres.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and callouts, carrying out puncture repairs and emergency tyre changes.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes and specialised tyre handling cages and machinery as required.
• Carry out scheduled routine checks and inspections on all tyre equipment and tooling located in the tyre bay to ensure they are in safe and proper working condition.
• Undertake workplace safety inspections and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate identified hazards and risks.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement in work standards and quality.
• Ensure all tasks are carried out in full compliance with Monier safety procedures and policies.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

• Trade Qualification in Tyre Fitting
• Minimum of 5 - 10 years experience as a Tyre Fitter preferably within a mining,construction, earthmoving or heavy transport environment.
• Valid Class 6 or 7 driver’s licence
• Demonstrated experience in Tyre Hander or Forklift operations.
