The Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) is the legal entity that manages community development benefits from Ok Tedi Mine operations on behalf of the people of the 158 Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) villages. OTDF is a safe, professional and innovative organisation that delivers projects to communities through a unique partnership between mining, the people and the government. OTDF is mandated to ensure wise and sustainable use of the wealth created from mining operations for the betterment of future generations of Western Province.

OTDF has two (2) current vacancies and seeks to engage dynamic, competent and qualified persons to be part of the team that is delivering development outcomes for the communities of Western Province. WaSH Officer (MHM Specialist)

Brief outline of roles and responsibilities of the WaSH Officer (MHM Specialist):

  • Design, develop, and implement MHM programs in line with organizational goals and community funders requirements.
  • Conduct regional needs assessments and baseline surveys to identify gaps in menstrual hygiene management practices.
  • Develop culturally appropriate MHM training materials, guidelines, and communication tools.
  • Facilitate community and school-based awareness campaigns to promote menstrual hygiene education.
  • Advocate for policy changes and integration of MHM into broader health, education, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives.
  • Provide technical support to partners and stakeholders for effective MHM interventions.
  • Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track progress and assess the impact of MHM programs.
  • Prepare regular reports for internal use, donors, and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories for knowledge sharing.

The following skills, qualification, work experiences and attributes are preferred:

  • Have 2-4 years’ experience in MHM, WASH, public health, or related programs.
  • Possess a Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Community Development, or related field.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating community-based programs.
  • Knowledge of menstrual hygiene management issues, especially in underserved populations. Experience in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and partnership-building
  • Must be able to travel to remote settings down the Fly River to deliver to communities

OTDF prefers residential status positions but also offers FIFO status (fly in fly out) along with an excellent remuneration and benefits package based on qualifications and work experience.
