World Vision Papua New Guinea (WVPNG) has exciting opportunity for those of you who want a change and want to become part of a dynamic team. We are currently looking for suitable, qualified, experienced, and highly motivated professional to fill the WASH Project Youth Officer role to be based in Arawa, Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Purpose of this position is to help implement the new WASH project in Arawa, Bougainville, leading the project team in implementing the WASH project in Central and South Bougainville, ARoB, to achieve the goal of

Women, men, boys, and girls in rural areas of the Central and South Bougainville districts have improved access to use and maintain equitable, safe, adequate, and sustainable water supply, sanitation, and hygiene practices.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

WASH Project Implementation

To participate in the implementation of project activities, to achieving the outputs set under the following outcomes

  • To increase WASH-related employment opportunities for young people.
  • To increase access to improved, sustainable and climate resilient WASH facilities in communities, schools, and Health Care Facilities (HCFs) in the Southern Region of Bougainville.
  • To increase awareness and practice of good hygiene and sanitation, including ending open defecation (OD) in communities.

Project Reporting

  • Submit monitoring reports of project activities on a regular basis, including Field Visit Reports.
  • Facilitate in data collection needed for Indicator Tracking Table and project evaluation activities.
  • Follow all World Vision and donor procurement requirements for construction materials and procure materials in time before actual construction.
  • Follow all World Vision and donor policies concerning the project, in particular the Child Protection and Gender Equality, Diversity & Inclusion policies.
  • Ensure all communications requirements for project are met. (Including branding, impact stories, etc)
  • Project knowledge learnings are captured during reporting

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Qualification in engineering, social science field or field related to regular contact with different people
  • 2 or more years of community development or extension work
  • Able to work with minimal supervision on extended period
  • Good knowledge and skills on community mobilisation and community extension services.
  • Exposure to working in ARoB
  • Working experience with NGO, INGO is an advantage
  • Willingness and physical fitness to spend significant time in the field
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Good interpersonal skills, a team player
  • Honesty and dedication to job; ability to complete task with minimum supervision
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Computer skills
  • Willingness to learn
