Welfare Officer

Hargy Oil Palms Limited (HOPL) is an Oil Palm plantation company based in Bialla, West New Britain Province. A remote location is situated approximately 2 and half hours’ drive east of Kimbe town.

HOPL currently has a vacancy for a suitably qualified and experienced Welfare Officer who will join its Human Resources Department and deliver support services to HOPL Employees and immediate family.

Primary Objectives:

This role is critical in promoting employee wellbeing, supporting welfare-related matters, and strengthening positive workplace relationships.

Competencies

To perform the job successfully, it is expected that the applicant must demonstrate the following competencies:

• Provide welfare support and counselling to employees and their families
• Address workplace and personal welfare concerns in a confidential and professional manner
• Coordinate employee wellbeing programs
• Liaise with management, medical services and other key stakeholders
• Conduct welfare investigations and maintain accurate case records
• Support compliance with company policies, labour laws, and social standards
• Contribute to a safe, respectful, and supportive working environment

Education and Background

• Diploma or Degree in Counselling or similar.
• Previous experience in welfare or counselling role.
• Strong communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills
• High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism
• Ability to work independently and handle sensitive cases
• Willingness to work in a rural environment
