Joint Venture Port Services under Steamships Trading Company is in search of a capable, results-driven, and proven individual to oversee the running of our Lae branch JV Port Service Workshop. The successful candidate will provide leadership, expertise, coaching and direction to the workshop Team leaders in Lae workshop facilities (outer ports as required) and ensure the objectives of both the company and agreed personal/professional are supported.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Workshop Manager located in Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. As a Workshop Manager, your responsibilities are:
- Facilitate the repair, maintenance, and general services according to company requirements.
- Lead the workshop team to ensure that company priorities are met.
- Quality workmanship must be maintained and in accordance with aspects of the JV Port services procedure or policies.
- Preplan maintenance schedules in line with machinery availability and operational demand.
- Forecasting the needs of the parts and tools and liaising with parts & inventory teams ensuring that parts and equipment required to complete work is provided in a timely manner and efficient manner.
- Ensure proper work procedures are maintained at all times and etc..
- Implementation and adherence to the quality management system processes.
Required Experience
Significant experience (minimum 10 years’ experience) in servicing heavy equipment with a preferred focus on stevedoring and handling equipment and including:
- Minimum of 3 years in senior supervisory role.
- Experience working with tracked slewing cranes
- Experience working with reach stackers and heavy cargo handling equipment
- Welding and metal fabrication basic experience is a plus
- Machinery operational experience is a plus.
Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Minimum Technical College Certification in Trade Field (Heavy Diesel Fitter).
- Grade twelve (12) certificates or similar
- General knowledge of lifting and transporting trucking equipment’s and maintenance needs
- Sound ability to read, write & work with numbers
- Able to manage basic HR issues
- Heavy plant and Diesel mechanic quals
- Able to use Technology & Computer (word. excel & pronto)
- Able to work and diagnosis CAMBUS communication system
- Driver’s license or RPL/equivalent
