East West Transport under Steamships Trading Company is in search of a capable, results-driven, and proven individual to facilitate the repair, maintenance, and general services accordingly to company’s requirements and maintenance as per manufacturer’s speculations and lead the workshop team to ensure the companies priorities are met. The successful candidate will be responsible in walking the workshop floor monitoring workshops staff performance and workmanship ensuring that parts and equipment required to complete work is provided in a timely and efficient manner.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Workshop Manager located in Kimbe, West New Province, Papua New Guinea. As a Workshop Manager, your responsibilities are:

1. Pre-plan maintenance schedules in line with machinery availability and operational demand.
2. Ensure proper work procedures always maintained.
3. Ensure all daily work recorded into the vehicle work order or job cards
4. Communicate with key contacts of EWT Management to ensure workshop staff understand current priorities and adjust staff deployment to meet those priorities in a prompt and professional manner.
5. Quality workmanship must be maintained and in accordance with all aspects of the EWT workshop procedures, policies, and regulations.
6. Provide general servicing of heavy equipment at outer port locations as and when required.
7. Ensure supervision of motor mechanics is always conducted.
8. With paramount focus on HSSE at workplace is adhered to.

Required Experience

Significant experience (minimum 5 to 10 years’) experience in similar role and including:

• Minimum of 3 years in supervisory and Management role.

Qualifications and Key Competencies

• Minimum Technical Trade Certificate in Mechanics.
• Grade twelve (12) certificates
• General knowledge of Transport Business.
• Knowledge of mechanics, electrical and electronic systems and tyre technology.
• Ability to provide vehicle maintenance and technical support services without supervision.
• Time management and planning skills
• Excellent communicator, energetic with go-getter attitude.
